Hänsel & Gretel. Lost & Found
Some feedbacks from our audience
The performance of Hansel and Gretel by the small theater company Betwixt and Between was an innovative and skillfully executed play for the young and young-at-heart! Both the children and their accompanying adults sat mesmerized for the entire play as it moved back and forth between German and English, fantasy and reality, music, dance and dialogue. What a wonderfully creative performance by a small but talented company. Children – and all of us – could use more of this kind of theater!

About the play
Hansel and Gretel don’t have an easy time. Their impoverished parents have left them in the woods, and from there they get directly to the gingerbread house of an evil witch. Now it’s especially one thing the siblings Hansel and Gretel need: Teamwork! But what if the joint memories and bonds of childhood have been forgotten for a long time?
In the bilingual theater production “Hänsel & Gretel – lost & found” with dialogues in English and German/Swissgerman, the play begins with the adult sibling pair Johann and Margret, who have been estranged for quite some time. But by finding their old trunk with toys, they set on an imaginative journey into play, in which not only the story of Hansel and Gretel, but also their reconciliation starts to unfold…
For families and younger and grown up children from age 6.
The play premiered one the 26th of Ocober 2019 in “the Safe” at Unternehmen Mitte in Basel.
Currently, no new performances of this play are scheduled.
Please enquire at betwixtandbetween_theater@gmx.ch if you would like to host a performance.
